holy crap man. Gene has serious issues.
Gene: "if you aren't exactly like me and believe in everything I believe in and live your life exactly the way I do then you're a loser and you've done nothing."
Yes. Gene is a fucking pig, the worst sort of tunnel-vision, narrow-minded fucko whose secret lack of self-esteem manifests itself as an overinflated ego to compensate for his own insecurity.
And that is NOT rock and roll. On a fucking subatomic level, that is anti-rock-and-roll. Rock and roll is about freedom and rebellion, not "DO AS I SAY ALL THE TIME OR YOU'RE A LOSER."
THAT, my friends, is what rock and roll is AGAINST.
Which is why Gene, for all of his money and success, does not understand rock and roll. He's a mama's boy who was never wild or rebellious or cool in any way-- his whole "demon" persona was based on his fantasies. Underneath the inflated codpiece and the ribbit-voice and the posturing, he's just a nerd in a flowery shirt singing songs about a parrot.
Gene is so fucking lost in his own self righteousness that he has absolutely ZERO sense of reality.... wiat til he starts to loose his marbles... can you imagine the rants we're going to hear coming out of his deluded jaded bitter mouth.
He is so bored with his money and success that he needs to create drama (interest) in his life by insulting and demeaning former bandmates.
I think it's more to do with the fact that people really love Ace and Gene doesn't understand why we don't love HIM as much. Ace is one of those people who is naturally talented and/or charismatic, and Ace in particular is pretty lazy.. it just comes easily to him, and he doesn't really push himself.
This goes completely against Gene's entire view of the world. He clearly feels that Ace is undeserving of the attention, adoration, and credit given to him by the public, and that he himself is not given the recognition he deserves. This is why Gene never misses an opportunity to assure us that he doesn't care what anyone thinks and he doesn't want to be popular. It's garden-variety denial in an attempt to downplay his own most desperate wishes for popularity.
Remember how many times Nicko used to tell everyone on TTS that he didn't care if we believed his conspiracy theories, or how many times Drunkbastard used to say he didn't care what anyone said? It was obvious that the complete opposite was true, but then they eventually went and PROVED that the opposite was true.
Same thing here. When Gene goes that far out of his way to constantly tell everyone in earshot that he doesn't care about recognition or integrity, blah blah blah, the only possible explanation is that it's on his mind all the time, and the only reason it's on his mind all the time is because it IS important to him. Very simple connect-the-dots.
Question: when I was listening to this, and gene kept saying "...and Ace did nothing" it almost sounded like someone edited that part in numerous times.... do you really think gene said it that many times in the interview or do you think someone fucked with it to make it sound way worse by having gene repeat over and over again "...and Ace did nothing"
Sounds like an edited loop to me, too. My guess would be, Gene ends his statement with "Ace did nothing", and the person who posted it just repeated it a few times.
well if "nothing" is stuff like the guitar solo in strange ways, the songs "Cold Gin" (which gene the hypocritical asshle still sings every night on stage even though he has denounced alcohol and anyone who drinks it) Parasite, Rocket Ride and the entire Ace Frehely solo album... Then I guess Im pretty fond of nothing.
and also i guess Kiss' entire sound in the early 70's was nothing too right?
Don't forget :
- Designing the KISS logo
- Designing not only his own, but Paul's makeup as well
- ...AND GENE'S (check out Gene's final makeup design from Dynasty
, and compare it to Ace's. Gene's had become a VARIATION OF ACE'S, DONE IN BLACK)
- Inventing the smoking-guitar effect
- Making KISS' musicianship somewhat credible (as I'm reminded every time I introduce someone to their music, and they hate it until Ace starts playing his solo)
There's more, but I'm doing this post bit by bit while I'm juggling phones and doing work, lol. (hope it's not too disjointed!)
Contrast this with Gene-O, who literally contributed NOTHING to the stage show. Even Gene's stunts were all introduced to the band by Delaney or Aucoin. Gene has literally contributed nothing at all to the center of KISS' world, their live show.
Once again, Gene-O's hypocrisy is staggering. Yes, he's written some great songs, yes, he was important to the band, but not MORE important than Ace was, which is what he's trying to convince people was the case.
